In June 1995, Bloor Research defined the essential architecture of second generation client/server tools capable of addressing the needs of enterprise application development.
Since then we have evaluated the leading products against these criteria. This report is the result of seven months research and provides the most comprehensive study of those software products which qualify under the original Bloor definition.
The report divides the products into three categories: Model Based, Object Based and 4GL or `Language based tools'. Each product is individually reviewed and rated against the Bloor Definition which describes its functionality on eight metrics: Performance Scalability, Object Oriented Design, Application Partitioning, Transaction Management, Modelling Tools, Repository, RAD, Management Tools and Methods.
